Well needed Rain

3 05 2010

It seems that we received what we were looking for.  Over 2 inches of rain fell over the weekend and a few more showers over the next few days sure will help.  Creeks and streams are filling up fast bringing many lake levels up a bit.  The fire band has lifted and it looks more like a NW Ontario spring out there right now.  The spawn is over throughout the entire area, suckers which usually spawn after the walleyes are pretty much done.  Our outpost is 75miles NE of PCC and morning water temps were already 50 degrees.   We had such low water levels before the weekend some fish may not of even spawned.  Some yearly spawning spots for fish had little or no water at all.  Betty and I got to see a woodland caribou last week on our way to the outpost, he actually turned broadside and let us snap a few pictures, pretty neet to see and yesterday we woke up to see a black timber wolf in the yard.  Customers start coming in this week and next and our walleye season opens on the 15th of the month.
