Nasty Weather.

30 05 2010

Temps in the mid 50’s, rain and wind are making conditions tough.  Fish are still biting but not quite as hot as it has been.  Nicer weather should be moving back in by Monday and I foresee the great fishing to continue.  The Sura group (MN)had one of their best years at the outpost this past week catching most of the fish in the current of the falls, 14 year veterans at the outpost.  I have talked to a lot of fisherman over the last two weeks and a general consensus made clear that slot limits and releasing female fish is working.  We have customers that have been fishing walleye for many years and this year so far has been some of the best action.  Well deserved action after  two spotty years in a row.  Fish remain shallow and a jig bite is working.  Even though fishing slowed up a bit the last two days many fish over 20 inches are still being caught and released.
