Fishing Remains Steady

6 06 2011

Fishing remains good on all of our small bush lakes.  Unfortunately some of the larger bodies of water are not so good.  Water temps have dropped to the low 50’s on the larger lakes and the bite really hasn’t started.  Fortunately our customers at this time of year concentrate on small bush lakes and have been doing very well.  The boys from Oceola, IA finished up on Friday with at least 50 walleye per boat, nice way to finish up the week.  With water temps in the high 50’s in most small lakes you still have to fish slow.  Erv Dombroski and crew had a good day yesterday boating several limits of fish and releasing plenty over 20 inches.  That seems to be common this week, many healthy walleye between 18 and 22 inches are being caught and released. Todd and Dan Foth (WI) boated 100 fish per boat yesterday and took off this morning to do er again.  Betty and I would like to thank everyone that are practicing catch and release on fish over 18 inches, it REALLY makes a difference.  All fish are done spawning for the most part and after a little more rest the fishing should only improve for a while.  The outpost action has been bang on since the openner, most guys are not traveling to far at all to catch fish, mostly right off the dock.  There is quite a crew up there this week, the stories should be pretty good, and I’m not talking about fish stories.
