3 1/2 Months

1 02 2012

The mild weather in the mid-west has many people itching for open water.  Although winter in the North has a long way to go, we are getting excited to start the 2012 season.   Ice conditions are perfect and snow depths are making getting around easy.  Most lakes are reporting 24 inches of good solid ice with little to no slush and 18 inches of snow on the ground.  Fishing reports have been average for a mid-winter bite.  The walleye bite at this time of year can be tough.  Fish seem to feed heavy in the fall and chill out during mid-winter, they  conserve energy  for the spawn, but as daylight hours increase they will put the feed bag on once again prior to their annual spawn.  Many of us will be looking forward to that last ice bite in March and early April.   The Trout bite has been decent but should only pick up as winter starts to turn into spring.  We are just 3 1/2 months away from our walleye opener and our season at PCC looks to be very busy.  We have a couple of cabins still available in June if anyone is interested.  We hope everyone is having a happy and healthy 2012 and we look forward to seeing you very soon.

Many of your outdoors cards expired in 2011.  If you want to renew online you can do so at http://www.ontario.ca/outdoorscard or call 1-800-387-7011.  You may also purchase fishing and hunting license at this web site as well. We just used the web site and it was very easy .  Just as a reminder PCC will not be selling fishing or hunting license this year.
