Happy New Year

1 01 2013

Trappers are happy in the North.  I received a few reports from different trappers in our area and all are on the same page. Excellent fur and numbers are up.  By the way, fur (especially wild fur) is a renewable and sustainable resource, and management practices are working .  Snow amounts are still low, (1 1/2 feet at the most) deer and moose are in no danger of snow depths.  Wish we had more trappers getting after the wolves.

Ice conditions are excellent with 12″ to 24″ of thickness.  With low snow levels and no slush on the lakes, getting around is easy as can be.  Trout fishing will be open in the morning,  and  walleye fishing has remained steady.  Temps are pretty cool but not to cold to get out.

Don’t want to wish the winter away but we are only 3 1/2 months away from Walleye Opener.  We are already looking forward to start our 10th year anniversary.  Thank you all for your support and look forward to see you in the new year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
