Brutally Cold

28 01 2013

The last several weeks have kept people indoors.  Night time temperatures have been hitting minus 40 degrees and that is not with a wind chill.  We have had a couple good dumps of snow and things seem to be like winters of old.   I did get some good reports from the weekend.  Sunshine and warmer temps made way for families to get out of the house and onto the lake, walleye seem to be the most active.  Good action had by  all.  In most areas snow and ice conditions are very good, definitely more snow in Dryden and Earfalls than in Kenora.  Slush is starting to appear on your normal lakes but travel is still really good.  Snow debts for this time of year seem to have the deer and moose in the clear, at least for now.  As the weather changes and more people are able to get out and enjoy the outdoors I hope to have more reports of NW Ontario ice fishing, until then, stay warm.
