Hard to Beat

16 06 2013

Fishing in NW Ontario is hard to beat over the last few weeks.  Fishing remains excellent.   Most fish are still shallow and definitely feeding.  Big numbers and nice fish.  Weather has been stable and we have been getting just enough wind to put a nice chop on the water.  Trolling, jigging, or casting for walleye is working right now.  I took my father out fishing 2 days ago, mid-day, and boated over 30 nice walleye in just a couple of hours.  We pulled up on one spot that we used to fish years ago and caught 3 northern pike and one little walleye.  We had confidence in the spot so we stuck it out and got the walleye to start a feeding frenzy, boated 16 real quick.  Moral of that story is sometimes we move to another spot to quick, we like to exhaust an area before we get antsy.  Water temps are reaching mid to high 60’s and conditions are perfect to catch a boat load of fish right now.
