Bitter Sweet

17 05 2020

It was the first time in 18 years Betty and I got to fish an opener. Hopefully the last! We did have a great day on Pickerel Lake, nice weather and a mixed bag of fish. Water temps were 48 degrees and the walleye we caught were shoal fish that seemed to be still spawning. Suckers are running the creeks pretty hard so the walleye spawn is over in those areas.

The underlining situation made the entire area of Sunset Country feel very different. The highways were eerily quiet and you pretty much had any lake to yourself. We will here a formal report this week on the border closure. For those of you who will miss their vacations in May and June, we are tentatively booking spots for the summer and fall dates or rolling over bookings to 2021.
