Fish have been on the feed this past week.  I was able to get out with some friends and regardless of the species you are after you will be putting fish on the ice.  We hit a spot one evening in which we caught whitefish, northern pike, walleye, perch, and lake herring.  We caught and released some really nice 24 and 25 inch walleye and were able to catch a few nice males for a great winter time feed.  The whitefish are on the smoker right now.  Looking forward at the weather it looks like we will be able to enjoy some excellent fishing well into April.  Enjoy the awesome pics the boys were able to take.

We hope everyone is having a good start to 2017.  We wanted to let you know that we have been having problems with our phone.  For the time being if you can’t get through or get a busy signal please shoot us an email.  It seems the problem is only from some parts of the US.

Winter has pretty much settled in, cold and snow is surly the theme.  Trout season opened on January 1st and the first week of season was action packed for most.  35 to 50 feet of water with the old standard white tube jig seemed to be the ticket.  Mixed reports for walleye and crappie thus far this year.  Fisherman north of us struggled a bit on some normally excellent winter hot spots and some friends have been putting fish on the ice in the Dryden area.  Ice conditions vary along with slush conditions.  High water levels this past fall again will make some of those creek passages a bit iffy.  I have not heard of any excellent crappie reports but the season is definitely early.

Our Spring bookings are solid but we do have a cabin avaiable the week of June 24th.  We will keep you informed of any cancelations .  If you are looking for something to do in 2017 Dave will be guiding a spring bear hunt, and will also be guiding mid-summer and fall musky trips.  We are also expanding our wolf hunt by a couple of hunters so if anyone is interested let us know.  We have a couple of spots avaiable in March of 2018.  For those of you who like to bird hunt you should really think about a fall grouse/fishing trip.  Season starts the 15th of September.  It is a great time of year to be in NW Ontario.

A buddy of ours was trying to make us a bit jealous with an openning day lake trout.

Betty and I would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Easter!!!!

Walleye season will close the middle of this month and even though creek mouths are not open the walleye bite is on.  Fish are staging close to their spawning areas and the prime time bite is fast and exciting.  Good size slot Northern Pike are being caught in the same areas before the walleye move into feed.  Trout are back on the feed after a few slow days in the past week or so.  Ice conditions are still very good, 30 inches of ice on average, getting around is easy, four wheelers or fan cooled sleds are the way to go right now.  Our long range forecast is above normal and lakes should be open a week or so before walleye season in May, my opinion anyway.

Walleye season always opens the third Saturday in May here in NW Ontario.  This year the date is May16th,2015,  but for all of you who book a year in advance be sure to recognize that the date will be May 21st in 2016.  This will make a difference for people who book on spring holidays.  Those weeks may not be open because season is pushed back a whole week.  Because of our repeat business we book by the week of season, not necessarily the week on the calendar. If you have any questions give us a call. 807-529-3132.

We have 2 openings at PCC this spring and one at Ogani Outpost, for those interested give us a call or shoot us an email.

Good luck to all you Wisconsin Badger fans tomorrow night!  We’ll be rooting for ya!

Borrowed this pic from a buddy’s trail camera.

Couple of nice pics of our buddy Cole from Little Canada Camp.  13 3/4 inch perch and a 34 inch Northern Pike.
